network topology Traditional network management tools today are poorly adapted to switched networks and do not reflect an accurate image of the topology. To visualize and understand the complex exchange patterns between applications and users, it is necessary to have an accurate physical map of the entire network and to be able to view traffic along that map.

Business Need
  • Obtain a complete map of the network topology
  • Discover devices and links on the network
  • Optimize the architecture of the network and plan capacity
  • Visualize traffic flows between delivered services components
Our Solution
Our Network Management Solution with BMC's Visualis discovers the components of the network automatically at layers two and three based on the latest modeling and information exchange technologies (CIM, Corba, Java, XML). Once the topology has been settled, it then gathers performance and configuration data. This information is stored in a database, graphed and made immediately available to the Network Manager to visually view the network topology. Traffic flows can also be viewed to visualize how network traffic may be impacting application performance historically or in real time.
